powerful women

Are you ready to step into your power?

Recently I was thrown in the deep end, and as I have experienced many times before, when I get thrown in the deep end, I don’t sink; I swim like a mermaid! It’s in times like this I step into my power.

At age ten, I saved a fellow girl scout from drowning when everyone around her just looked on. I was calm at the time and somehow found the strength to do what I had to do.

When I see someone have an accident, I jump right in to help. I am not the bystander; I am the doer.

In a crisis, I am strong.

But sometimes when I have to prepare something ahead of time, I don’t feel that strength.

I was thrown in the deep end recently.

I am co-instructing the July training for my coach certification program, the Mindful Health and Wellness Coach Certification.  We are promoting it right now so people can find out about the excellent three-month program we offer and get all their questions answered via regular small group webinar Q&As.

We pride ourselves on small class sizes and personal attention to our course participants, so the webinar is no different.  It’s no, “hop on with 200 other people, and you with be a passive participant for an hour” no, it’s boutique and very personal.

So Billie, my wonderful mentor, and owner of Guiding Mindful Change discussed with me a few days ahead of time what parts of the webinar I would present.

Me being me, I got down to making sure I knew everything there was to know about those particular parts, I rehearsed what I was going to say, typed it up, and made sure it was visible to me while I was on zoom, so I wouldn’t forget anything.

It was going to be perfect.

Then one hour before the webinar, Billie called with an emergency.  The likelihood was she would not be able to attend.

Oh!

A familiar calmness came over me. Like I said, I’m good in a crisis.

My experience as a birth doula has prepared me well.

For many years I worked as a birth doula, and nothing is as unpredictable as birth. However, from the moment I got that call when a client needed me to be with them in labor, dropping my life and being wholly present for hours and sometimes days at a time, I was calm.

There are always twists and turns that we can’t foresee ahead of time, but I know my confident and calm demeanor is valuable to help my clients roll with the punches and pivot on ideas they had had ahead of time.

And it always worked out.

I had the tools and strength to deal with anything.

It was no different this time.

I stepped into my power

As soon as Billie told me the news, I assured her I had her back; she didn’t need to worry. I put down the phone, reviewed the slides, and realized I knew enough.

I was enough. I could do it.

I don’t need to spend hours on prep; it would all be good.

It made me feel empowered.  I love that feeling, don’t you? Your energy is on high vibe, you feel like you can take on the world.

A short time later, I hopped on the call, there turned out to be one participant, and I was able to give her the personal and mindful service that is one of our core values. It flowed, we had a great connection, and Billie made it for some of the time after all.

It all worked out.

So let me ask you.

Do you spend time worrying about what will happen in the future and how best to prepare for it instead of jumping right in and having the confidence in yourself that you can do great things?

Perhaps you lack confidence in some areas of your life and let your inner critic convince you that you aren’t enough?

What would it take for you to start believing in yourself and your abilities so you can make great things happen and step into your power?

Ponder these questions for a while and when you are ready, give me a call to schedule time to work out how you can ignite the immense power I know you have in you, and make your dreams a reality.
